Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to protect our infrastructure, applications and data against evolving cyber threats. Working within the Information Security team, you will design, implement and maintain security controls while supporting incident response, vulnerability management and compliance initiatives.

Reporting to the Cyber Security Manager, you will collaborate closely with Infrastructure, Cloud, Software Engineering and DevOps teams to embed security throughout the technology landscape.

This role offers excellent exposure to cloud security, security automation and modern cyber defence technologies.

Environment

You will support the security of a modern hybrid cloud environment consisting of enterprise applications, cloud infrastructure and software development platforms.

  • Technology Stack: Microsoft Azure, AWS, Microsoft 365, Defender, Sentinel, SIEM, EDR, Identity Management and Security Automation.
  • Frameworks: ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, NIST and CIS Controls.

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong experience in cyber security engineering.
  • Knowledge of network, cloud and endpoint security.
  • Experience with SIEM, EDR and security monitoring tools.
  • Understanding of vulnerability management and penetration testing.
  • Experience implementing Zero Trust security principles.
  • Knowledge of identity and access management.
  • Familiarity with scripting using PowerShell or Python.
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CEH, Security+, Azure Security Engineer or equivalent are desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Security Engineering

  • Design and implement security controls across cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Monitor security events and respond to incidents.
  • Manage vulnerability assessments and remediation programmes.
  • Support secure configuration and hardening of systems.
  • Develop security automation and monitoring solutions.

Risk & Compliance

  • Support ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials compliance activities.
  • Conduct security assessments and risk reviews.
  • Assist with security audits and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop security policies and technical standards.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work with software engineers to implement secure development practices.
  • Provide technical guidance on cloud security architecture.
  • Deliver security awareness and technical training.
  • Evaluate emerging threats and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to business continuity and incident response planning.
